Dell’s Pizza & Wings Express today shuttered its Maricopa location.

The longtime Casa Grande pizzeria, which opened here in May last year, closed its doors effective immediately.

“This decision wasn’t easy, but we want to express our deepest gratitude for your support and patronage,” a company statement said. “We’d like to share that a new pizza restaurant from the Valley will soon announce their opening in this space.”

Two of the restaurant’s four employees, Manager Hailey Lebrun and Assistant Manager Kara Rucker, told InMaricopa they received no notice their employment would end today.

“They sold the store and we are closing as of today,” Rucker said. “All four of us have been working there since May, and now all four of us have to go looking for a different job.”

Lebrun added, “We’ve been sitting there rocking it out, doing everything we need to do.”

The managers noted they received only excellent restaurant inspections and InMaricopa’s “Best Pizza” title since the store’s opening last year.

“It’s unsettling and really heartbreaking that they could pull the rug out from underneath us like that,” Rucker said.

Tara Burke, a marketing spokesperson for the pizzeria, said the four employees will be compensated fairly as they find new jobs.

“Our employees have always been valued,” Burke said. “We’ve offered each team member a two-week severance package for their commitment and service.”

Burke added each employee was given an excellent reference to the new pizzeria slated to take Dell’s place.
