Description and sketch of sexual assault suspect provided to Maricopa residents

    Maricopa has had two recent sexual assaults, approximately nine months apart. In an effort to find the suspect in these crimes, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is providing a description of the assailant, as well as a composite sketch obtained with the help of one of the victims.

    On April 26, 2005, an attempted sexual assault occurred in the city limits of Maricopa. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult, 19-21 years of age. He was wearing construction-type clothing and riding a dark-colored mountain style bike. The suspect is described as 5’5″, short black hair, large eyes and little moustache.

    On January 22, 2006, a sexual assault occurred within the city limits of Maricopa. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult, approximately 30 years of age, 5’5″, thin build, medium length hair and smooth face. He was reported to be wearing construction-type clothing and riding a darker colored “Schwinn” ten speed bicycle with the handlebars turned upwards. The suspect was noticed to speak both English and Spanish clearly.

    Sheriff Chris Vasquez has authorized up to a $5000 reward to anyone with any information leading to the arrest and conviction of this suspect.
