A 25-year-old man who killed a Maricopa woman in a rollover crash last year was sentenced in Pinal County Superior Court to 18 years in prison.

State police arrested Christian Galindo in February 2022 after a single-vehicle collision killed one of his passengers, 19-year-old Vanity Chavez, and injured another female passenger.

Chavez was ejected from the vehicle during the high-speed crash on State Route 347. She died at a Chandler hospital.

In a plea deal, Galindo pleaded guilty to one count each of manslaughter and aggravated assault, according to a Dec. 20 statement from the Pinal County Attorney’s Office.

He previously faced other charges, including homicide, multiple counts of DUI, extreme DUI, aggravated DUI and driving with a suspended license.

After completing his 18-year sentence, Galindo, then aged 43, will serve probation for five years. He was sentenced Nov. 21.
