Right in the middle of an important printing job, your cartridge runs out of ink. Sound familiar? You grab a new cartridge and pull out the old one, but wait — DON’T throw it out! New Life Pregnancy Center in Maricopa is collecting empty ink cartridges and old cell phones.

“We’ll be using the money we get from them for needs here at the pregnancy center. Each cartridge will bring in $2-$4, and each cell phone is worth $3,” explained Lucy Kelly, the center’s director. “All donations will be sent to the southern district office to be turned in to manufacturers, and then funds will be distributed to the centers.”

An empty ink cartridge like this one is worth $2-$4 to the New Life Pregnancy Center’s assistance program.

Empty ink cartridges and old cell phone donations are an easy way to support the work of the center, which assists both expectant and new parents. Kelly noted that the center provides parenting classes especially geared for new mothers. “We have a great curriculum for that,” she said.

In addition to monetary assistance, the center needs material assistance also. Good usable baby clothes, maternity clothes, baby furniture (except car seats) and crib mattresses are always in high demand. Diapers in sizes three and four are especially needed. All of these items go to parents with infants who need them.

If you have donations of ink cartridges, cell phones or any of the aforementioned baby items, you can drop them off on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the New Life Pregnancy Center, located south of the tracks on the First Baptist Church site. For further information or to arrange pick-ups, call the center at (520) 568-0612.
