The FBI and Pinal County Sheriff’s office announced today that they are attempting to locate Christopher Rainbow Johns and are encouraging anyone with information concerning Johns’ whereabouts to contact local law enforcement. According to Special Agent in Charge Keith Bennett, Johns is wanted on federal charges of assault with a deadly weapon and for use of a firearm in a crime of violence.

On March 24, 2006, Pinal County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call for service involving a stolen vehicle. A pursuit ensued as deputies attempted to stop the vehicle. It ended as the driver wrecked the stolen vehicle on the Gila River Indian Reservation, leaving the vehicle inoperable.

As deputies approached, one male occupant, who was able to escape from the scene, fired upon them. This individual was later identified as Christopher Rainbow Johns.

Because the incident occurred on the Gila River Indian Reservation, Johns has been charged federally by the FBI. Presently, the FBI and Pinal County Sheriff’s Office are seeking Johns pursuant to the federal warrant for his arrest.
