Three units from the Maricopa Fire and Medical Department responded to a call at the McDonald’s restaurant on John Wayne Parkway Monday afternoon.

Despite having three MFMD units on scene, along with a unit from the Goodyear Fire Department, the incident appears to have been minor.

“It looks like Fire and Police responded to reports of a fire at the McDonald’s on John Wayne Parkway,” said City of Maricopa spokesperson Monica Williams. “However, when Fire arrived there were no active flames.”

According to an eyewitness, there were at least five firefighters on the roof of the building, some with chain saws, and the building was evacuated of patrons and employees.

This is a developing story. InMaricopa will provide updates as information becomes available.
