Fire District Board to hold special meeting Thursday

Maricopa Fire District’s governing board will convene a special session Thursday to hold a public hearing on the revision of the board’s by laws. The agenda for that meeting follows:

BOARD OF DIRECTORS SPECIAL MEETING
March 8, 2007 – 5 p.m.

PURSUANT TO A.R.S. § 38-431
Notice is hereby given to the public that the Maricopa Fire District governing board will hold a special meeting on Thursday, March 8th. The meeting will be held at 44624 West Garvey Avenue, Maricopa, Arizona. The meeting will be open to the public and will begin at 5:00 PM.

The following is a list of items that may, or may not, be discussed at the meeting. Action or decisions may, or may not, be taken on any or all items.

A Speaker Agenda Card is available to be completed by a community member if he/she wishes to speak on an item listed below. Please complete and give to the Clerk of the Board prior to the beginning of the meeting.

2. Pledge of Allegiance

3. Roll Call and confirmation of Quorum

4. Public Hearing

In order to comment on a Public Hearing Item, you must fill out a Speaker Agenda Card, indicating that you wish to be heard. Once the hearing is closed, there will be no further public comment unless requested by a member of the Board. After the Public Hearing, the Board may act on all items not requiring additional staff, public, or Board Member comment with a single vote.

A. Public Comment on the Board by laws.

Hearing, discussion and possible action on amending Governing Board By Laws.

5. New Business

A. Discussion and possible action to provide Maricopa Fire District staff direction when requests are received from the City of Maricopa, especially those pertaining to the incorporation of the Fire District into the City’s governmental structure.

Public comment on any item not on the agenda: Members of the public may comment on matters within the jurisdiction of the Board but not on the agenda. The Board’s response is limited to responding to criticism, reviewing a matter commented upon, or asking that a matter be put on a future agenda. You are given three (3) minutes or less to express your ideas, voice concerns, and ask questions on any item. You are to refrain from any personal attacks or derogatory statements about any District Board Member or Employee. The Chairperson will limit discussion whenever it is deemed that such an action is appropriate to the proper conduct of the meeting.

6. Adjournment

Notice: One or more members may attend via teleconference. The governing board may vote to go into executive session for the purpose of obtaining legal advice from the Fire District’s attorney on any of the above listed agenda items pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(3).
