Girl Scout K-12 recruiting event Wednesday

595

If your daughter or granddaughter, niece or little sister is interested in Girl Scouting, then you should attend Wild Horse Neighborhood Girl Scout Recruitment night on Aug. 11.

The event, which will be held at Saddleback Elementary School, will provide information for parents about Girl Scouting for girls in grades K-12.

Parents will learn more about the Girl Scout community, and troops will be formed. Troops typically meet every other week for one hour at neighborhood schools or leader’s homes to work on the Girl Scout program in a team atmosphere.

Girl Scouting helps develop a girl’s leadership potential through a variety of Pathways. The well-rounded program explores different aspects of life through skill-building badge work and community service, helping girls to internalize Girl Scout values, as stated in the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

In Girl Scouts girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Through a myriad of enriching experiences, such as extraordinary camping experiences, selling Girl Scout cookies, community service projects, cultural exchanges and environmental stewardships, girls grow and develop their full individual potential. They learn to relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect, to develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making and to contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills and cooperation with others.
