There was family fun as far as the eye could see at Sunday’s Great American 4th Tailgate at Copper Sky.

From Waterslide Alley to competitive cornhole to sailing snowballs, Maricopans were enjoying Independence Day. It was all a warmup to the highlight of the celebration: the fireworks at the park at dusk.

The activities also included a cherry pie eating contest and a competition to find the best mullet in Maricopa.
