An Alterra home was the far-and-away winner of this year’s Holiday Homes on Parade contest after 32,000 people voted for their favorite yuletide light show in town.

Crystal McCauley’s winning home at 44781 W. Applegate Road won with 10,453 votes, nearly one-third. Prizes were awarded at the home earlier today.

McCauley said she’s already planning and looking forward to next year’s contest. Some of her winnings will go to maintaining some displays.

“I do it for fun,” she said. “It’s my thing. I just love Christmas.”

The contest was sponsored by Dayv Morgan at HomeSmart Premier and presented by InMaricopa and the City of Maricopa

McCauley received $325 in gift certificates from local businesses Karsten’s Ace Hardware, Iconic Garage Door Services, Native Grill & Wings and Rosati’s Pizza.
