Homecoming carnival today; fun and food for everyone

Homecoming Week festivities continue today at Maricopa High School with a carnival from 6 – 8 p.m. at the former Santa Cruz Elementary site on Honeycutt Ave.

Students, their families and friends, as well as local residents are invited to visit the haunted house, dunk their favorite teachers and administrators, try the rock wall, a bouncer or participate in the car smash or pie-eating contest. Food and fun are guaranteed ingredients for the event.

On Wednesday night classes and clubs participated in the Homecoming parade (see inmaricopa.com tomorrow for the winners and photos of their floats) followed by a bonfire and spirit celebration in preparation for the football game vs. Florence Friday night at 7 p.m. (see related story).

The Football Booster Club will hold at tailgate party at 5 p.m. prior to the game. Half-time ceremonies will include the crowning of this year’s Homecoming queen and king as well as recognition of their court.

Celebrate our Heritage is this Homecoming Week’s theme, and the celebration will end with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday from 7 – 11 p.m. at the high school.
