Tortosa, Rancho Mirage and Sorrento residents can celebrate. A two-mile stretch of Honeycutt Road is expected to reopen for local traffic by April 10.

Jon Corwin, vice president and general manager for Global Water Resources, confirmed Tuesday afternoon that repairs to a water main between White and Parker and Hartman roads are on track and wrapping up.

“We’re going to open as early as possible but we fully expect it no later than 5 a.m. on Monday morning,” Corwin said. “Hopefully even a little bit sooner than that.”

The road closed on March 13 for scheduled repairs to a water main that previously experienced multiple breaks. Repairs included installing a liner to prevent future service disruptions.

“Our goal is to prevent (closures and damage) from occurring in the future,” Corwin said at the time.
