Late Nov. 19th, a man allegedly threatened the houseplants and broke a car window with a landline telephone.
The suspect, Cedric M. Hankins, was arrested and charged with criminal damage.
According to police documents, officers were dispatched to a Santa Rosa Springs home for a disturbance, where a male subject damaged the window of a female suspect’s vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and saw a female standing next to her white vehicle with a damaged window and Hankins exited the house.
Police say that Hankins stated he was intoxicated and believed his girlfriend took his cellphone and left the residence, which started the argument.
Police said that Hankins stated that he called the girlfriend with a landline demanding his cellphone be returned or he would damage the houseplants.
Hankins stated that when his girlfriend returned, he threw the landline telephone at her rear driver-side window, which caused the glass to break, police say.
When the girlfriend was contacted, she stated that Hankins engaged in a verbal argument inside the home and damaged several items; houseplants, a television, walls, and bedframes, believed to be valued at $830.
According to police documents, when asked, Hankins admitted to the damage, and said it was because he was upset and intoxicated.
