Maricopa Arts Council joins with the City of Maricopa Library and Cultural Center to present lectures by arts professionals called “Inside the Creative Mind.”

The free lectures begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 26 and Feb. 2 in the Library and Cultural Center Redwood Room, featuring “The Arts of Sound.”

The lecturers are master violinist Pamela Rheaume, Jan. 26, and award-winning slam poet Frankie Marchi, Feb. 2.

“Each lecturer is a master in his or her own field, and a highly regarded and effective presenter,” an arts council release states. “2024 brings Maricopa the 11th edition of this popular series, and the exciting roster of presenters features notable and well-established local Arts professionals in music, slam poetry, and visual arts.

Rheaume began violin study at age 10, and earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Augustana College, plus both a master’s degree and Leadership Certificate from Northern Arizona University. Today, she is the concert master of Maricopa Music Circle chamber orchestra and violinist with the Chandler Symphony.

Slam poet Marchi is the first-prize winner of both the 2023 All-Maricopa Poetry Slam, and the All-Arizona Poetry Slam Championship.  A graduate of Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree in communications, Marchi has done performance work in theater, speech and debate. He has performed at events around the country, maintaining a balance of both poetry and performance art.

A question-and-answer session follows every presentation, and light refreshments will be served.

“Inside the Creative Mind” 2024 will continue in late February and early March with lectures centered in the visual arts.
