A juvenile was arrested on suspicion of firing a handgun at another juvenile, and an adult man also faces charges in connection with the incident on Saturday night.

The male minor was booked into Pinal County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm at a structure, unlawful discharge of a firearm, endangerment (felony), disorderly conduct (felony) and minor in possession of a firearm, police said.

The adult man, Nikolas I. Lockett, 18, was booked into Pinal County Jail on suspicion of endangerment (facilitation), disorderly conduct (facilitation), false reporting to law enforcement and contributing to delinquency of a minor, police said.

According to Maricopa Police, at 11:37 p.m. officers were called to the site on West Cedro Road by a security company, which was remotely monitoring the construction area with surveillance cameras, on a report of a shooting.

According to the probable-cause statement, the video showed a red sedan being followed by a white sedan. Eight people were seen exiting the white vehicle. One fired a handgun at the red sedan, driven by a female juvenile. Both vehicles then drove off. Police later located the white sedan at a home in the Maricopa Meadows neighborhood.

Officers contacted several people at the home and Lockett was identified as the driver of the white sedan by a witness. Lockett admitted to being present, police said, but denied any shooting took place.

Lockett’s mother reportedly confirmed to officers that her son was in possession of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

One person at the home identified a male juvenile as the person who fired the handgun. Another stated that the sound of the gunshot came from the front of the white sedan, where that male juvenile had been sitting, police said.

According to Maricopa Police, officers interviewed the male juvenile others identified as the shooter, and he said he “blacked out” and couldn’t remember anything. Officers stated his clothing matched the person seen on the surveillance footage.
