Letter to the Editor: In support of Babeu

269

I publicly supported Sheriff Vasquez in 2008. The people of Pinal County spoke and elected Sheriff Paul Babeu. It didn’t take long to see an improved level of service capabilities to the citizens of Pinal County.

Executive management began providing clear command intent directives holding all levels of agency leaders responsible to achieve mission goals. I watched, and was impressed, as mediocre or low performing staff was being held accountable, some for the first time in their career.

Emergency response times decreased and PCSO added an Air Unit which has already saved lives and interdicted criminal activity. I was proud to see our Adult Detention Facility become the only one nationally accredited in Arizona and delighted to finally see an aggressive interdiction of the organized criminal smuggling operations traveling through our county.

Who in their right mind, outside the criminal element, would oppose this?

The active pursuit of military surplus material to supplement the mission is fiscally responsible, as well as providing strategically placed all-terrain vehicles throughout the county for rapid response for rescue/evacuation of our citizens in the event of natural or man-made disasters.
