Library buys 700 new books

The Maricopa Community Library used the remainder of its 2007 budget to purchase 700 new books for its patrons.

The order was placed on May 30, and books have already begun arriving at the library.

“It’s very exciting to finally get all the books,” Librarian Linda Wilmeth said.

Although Wilmeth said a variety of subjects were purchased, the three subjects that were most impacted are juvenile biographies, adult non-fiction and audio books.

“There have been many patrons asking about more audio books so I’m glad we were able to make audio books a big part of our purchase,” Wilmeth said.

She said audio books are popular because people can do other things while listening to them, and it helps make the long commute so many Maricopans complete each day go by more quickly.

The library plans to continue updating the juvenile biographies section into 2008.
