UPDATE Feb. 23, 2024 5:29 p.m.: Maricopa Police Department confirmed the weapon was a firearm.

UPDATE Feb. 23, 2024 4:42 p.m.: Someone dialed 9-1-1 and told dispatch there was a dispute going on between two siblings, both minors.

One sibling reportedly threatened to use a weapon, according to Maricopa Police Department spokesperson Monica Williams.

Officers took one juvenile into custody.

“At this time, a weapon has not yet been recovered, and no injuries have been reported,” Williams said.

The investigation is ongoing, she added.

ORIGINAL STORY Feb. 23, 2024 4:14 p.m.: Maricopa Police Department responded to a family fight among kids in Maricopa Meadows this afternoon.

It was 3 p.m. when at least seven units responded to a home on the 45000 block of West Dirk Street, bringing a drone, assault rifles and bulletproof vests.

Despite the heavy response, Sgt. Steven Egendorfer said the incident was “a little family fight.”

“It’s all juveniles,” he said.
