Jeffrey McDonnell, 38, was arrested and charged on May 30 in connection with an incident involving firearms days prior.

At about 1 a.m. on May 28, Maricopa police responded to the area near North John Wayne Parkway and West Honeycutt Avenue, after receiving reports of gunshots.

According to the probable-cause statement, the victim stated he was involved in a road rage incident with a white Cadillac SUV, in which the driver of the SUV allegedly shot at the victim’s vehicle.

Officers patrolled the area and located a vehicle matching the description, parked in a driveway on West Jack Rabbit Trail.

The vehicle was registered to McDonnell, police reported.

MPD attempted to contact McDonnell at the residence, but no one answered the door.

On May 30, they revisited the residence and spoke with McDonnell.

Police said McDonnell admitted to being involved in a road rage incident and discharging his firearm at a moving vehicle while his wife and son were in his SUV.

McDonnell was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct involving a weapon, endangerment, aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm and drive-by shooting.

He was booked into Pinal County jail.
