Dems thank Ak-Chin Community

Maricopa Democrats will officially thank the Ak-Chin Indian Community Saturday for their donation of $10 million to the city and Maricopa Unified School District, according to a press release.

The ceremony will be 1 p.m. in the lobby of the UltraStar Multi-tainment Center.

The Community donatee$2.6 million to MUSD and $7.4 million for the maintenance and operation of the city’s new Copper Sky Recreation Complex, the new multi-generational recreation center currently under construction.

“As residents of Maricopa we were extremely appreciative of the Ak-Chin community’s generosity, and we wanted to be sure they knew their donation is very appreciated,” said Alejandro Rojas, a member of the Maricopa City Democrats.

Maricopa City Democrats President Kevin Taylor will present Louis Manuel Jr., the chairman of the Ak-Chin Tribal Council, with a plaque expressing appreciation from the Maricopa community.
