Maricopa City Council members on Tuesday will discuss and possibly act on how they want  to fill the vacancy left by Rich Vitiello.

The council meets at 6 p.m. in its chambers at Maricopa City Hall, 39700 W. Civic Center Plaza.

Vitiello, who served on the council since 2018, submitted his letter of resignation, effective April 1. The council accepted Vitiello’s resignation at a recent meeting.

The council could go into closed session to discuss candidates and the selection process, but must make any appointment in open session, under the Arizona Open Meetings law.
