There is a new voice of Maricopa.

Brandon LaVorgna, who has a track record in journalism and municipal-government communications, is the city’s new marketing and communications manager.

He succeeds Quinn Konold, who was promoted to communications and cultural-services director of the city.

LaVorgna left the news industry to become a public-information officer at Greenville, S.C. From there, he became a public-information officer for the South Carolina Emergency Management Division.

A San Diego native, LaVorgna graduated from PennWest Edinboro in Edinboro, Pa., in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism & Mass Communications. Upon graduating, he spent nearly 10 years reporting as a journalist in several communities across the country.

LaVorgna said he jumped at the chance to join Maricopa because he finds the city’s growth boom exciting and he hopes to help continue its success.
