UPDATE: Bomb threat at Bashas’ investigated

The Maricopa Police Department found nothing in the area of Bashs' Thursday night after a bomb threat, and said the scene was clearing about 10:22 p.m.

An unknown suspect called Bashas’ grocery store with a bomb threat about 7:50 p.m. Thursday, said. Sgt. Hal Koozer. MPD spokesman.

At 9:45 p.m. the Arizona Department of Public Safety was sweeping the store using bomb-sniffing K-9 officers.

MPD immediately evacuated the grocery store and surrounding stores once they arrived on scene.

“Everybody’s safe and the scene is secure at this time,” Koozer said.

Residents are advised to stay clear of the area.

The incident is under investigation.

Bashas’ is located at 21044 N. John Wayne Parkway.
