The Maricopa Real Estate Company has acquired Prudential One Realty of Maricopa and Casa Grande.

The Maricopa Real Estate Company has been the largest real estate company in Pinal County for several years, said primary co-owner and designated broker Steve Murray. Prudential has been the third largest in the county.

“Prudential has been our competition for a long time,” Murray said. “(The acquisition) strengthens our position to say the least.”

The two other owners of Maricopa Real Estate Company are Jay Shaver and Mary Ann Toohey. John Kamouzis is the former Prudential owner.

Murray said the acquisition did not involve money, but an agreement involving assuming some leases and other things he would not discuss.

His company has signed on Prudential’s agents and now will have a combined sales force of more than 50 agents, he said. The company will keep the nameThe Maricopa Real Estate Company.

With the acquisition, the company’s combined sales will be twice that of the second largest real estate company in the county, he said. The company has annual sales of $80 million.

Murray said residential sales “were off considerably at the beginning of the year. Home prices have flattened out and are not rising.”

The Maricopa Real Estate Company was established in 2007.
