Two men have been charged in connection with the alleged theft of a vehicle and construction equipment in Maricopa in an incident that shut down several roads.

Three people were initially detained Tuesday after an incident that brought in a SWAT team when suspects would not come out of a house in old Maricopa. Charged are Carlos U. Vargas, 30, and Javier Gomez, 28.

A third suspect was detained but has not been charged, according to DPS spokesman Bart Graves.

Vargas has a $20,000 bond while Gomez’s bond is $2,500. They were booked in to Pinal County Jail. Both have a preliminary hearing set for March 13.
