Maricopa High School football games will be broadcast on COPA6, Orbitel Communications cable TV channel 6, at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday nights.
“Orbitel has been trying to bring Maricopa high school games to local TV for years, and we are very excited to have football be the first sport,” said Keith Kirkman, Orbitel president and CEO.
Kirkman said Orbitel is working with the Maricopa High School broadcast journalism class, and instructor Daron Connelly has been of tremendous help in making this a reality. “Daron is providing Orbitel with the edited tapes, and we’re all proud to show this to the community.”
***ADVERTISEMENT***Both home and away games will be filmed and broadcast the following week on COPA6 throughout the season.
Orbitel hopes to air other Maricopa High school sports as well. “Not everyone can attend games, so Orbitel, as a local company, is pleased to be able to bring the games into people’s homes.
At the same time, this is an educational project for the broadcast journalism class, and a great way to support MHS sports.
