Calvary Chapel Maricopa along with several area churches are presenting an outreach concert for the recent victims of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita. The concert will be held at the Maricopa High School Gymnasium on Saturday, October 22, from 5 p. m. to 9 p. m.

Guest speakers include Crystal Miller, a survivor of the Columbine High School shootings. Crystal tells her story to encourage others that hope can come from even the most devastating circumstances.

Pastor Gino Geraci, a trained Emergency Response Chaplain who was at Columbine that day, will also speak. He has worked at Ground Zero, India, and the recent hurricane torn region of the Gulf.

The event will feature free refreshments and food, as well as live bands and an appearance by some of the families who are being helped here in the city of Maricopa by the Action Alliance Network. Local churches here in Maricopa will also be hosting booths at the event to share information about their churches with the community.

“We had planned this originally as just a local outreach concert with local churches, but, when the hurricanes hit, we knew we had to do something to help,” said Pastor Chris Ward of Calvary Chapel Maricopa.

“Community of Hope, ACTS Christian Center, First Baptist, Mountain View Community Church and many other churches have all stepped up alongside the Action Alliance Network to help sponsor families who have relocated to Maricopa. This is a great way to reach out to the community and to help people at the same time.”
