Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney claimed victories in both Arizona and Michigan, where his father served as governor, in Tuesday’s primary elections.

Romney won the full slate of 29 delegates in Arizona’s Republican presidential primary, where he was endorsed by Gov. Jan Brewer. Only registered Republicans could vote in the primary.

In Pinal County’s 77 precincts, Romney garnered 47 percent of the votes to Rick Santorum’s 27 percent – consistent with statewide voting – and Newt Gingrich’s 17 percent. None of the other 19 candidates on the Republican ballot received more than 1 percent in Pinal County.

Tuesday’s election also was a primary for registered Green Party members.

Of the six candidates on the Green ballot, environmental-health advocate Jill Stein grabbed 70 percent while Richard Grayson finished second with 20 percent. Michael Oatman and Gerard Davis each got 5 percent.

The primary election in Arizona for both Democratic and Republican parties is Aug. 28. Voters registered Independent cannot vote in those primaries. The general election is Nov. 6.
