Mobile On-site Mammography (M.O.M.) will be at Maricopa City Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Although that date may seem a long way off, it’s time to make an appointment now.

If you are interested in getting a mammogram, schedule an appointment by contacting M.O.M. at (480) 967-3767 or (800) 285-0272. Have your insurance information handy when you call, and please bring the following items to your appointment on January 27: medical insurance card, doctor’s name and address and location of prior mammogram films.

The cost of services varies based upon insurance coverage. There is available insurance coverage with Blue Cross Blue Shield and other select carriers. Non-insured patients pay $138-$166 (includes the radiologist reading). In addition to the regular interpretation by the radiologist, an R-2 computerized reading is available for an extra $28. Patients should consult their insurance plan for coverage.

It is highly encouraged that all women over the age of 40 have a mammogram every one to two years. In Arizona breast cancer is the leading form of cancer among women. An estimated 2,800 women will be diagnosed, and 600 will die of breast cancer in Arizona this year. One out of every eight women has breast cancer.
