Maricopa police arrested a 47-year-old woman on domestic violence charges after an argument with her daughter.

Officers responded to a disturbance call in Glennwilde just before 2 p.m. Dec. 20. The caller told dispatch her mother, Tamala Anderson, tried to break into her room during an argument, according to a police report.

Police found large gashes on a bedroom door that looked like the result of “a large blade.”

The daughter told police she and her mother fought over internet connection in the home, and she threatened to shut her mother’s business down. After that, Anderson allegedly chased her to her bedroom with a weapon and tried to break in.

Police found a set of branch cutters in the mother’s room, which “were a perfect fit” for the damaged areas on the door, according to the police report.

Anderson admitted to arguing and banging on the door but denied using the branch cutters and “became upset” when cops confronted her. She claimed the damage was already there, despite fresh debris found around the door.

Police arrested Anderson, who allegedly said she was “going to hurt” her daughter.

Anderson was booked into the Pinal County Jail on domestic violence charges of criminal damage and disorderly conduct. She faces one year in jail and $5,000 in fines.
