Yoan Luna, 20, was arrested Monday on suspicion of robbing the Circle K at 19864 N. John Wayne Parkway on May 20, according to the Maricopa Police Department.
Officers first began investigating Luna, a Maricopa resident, after receiving an anonymous tip indicating he may be an investigative lead into the robbery, Officer Ricardo Alvarado, MPD public information officer, said.
Friday morning, the suspect entered the Circle K and was recognized by the same store employee robbed a month earlier, according to a MPD press rerelease. The clerk immediately called 911 and the suspect was taken into custody on unrelated warrants and officers attempted to determine his role in the armed robbery.
When detectives questioned Luna about the robbery he “admitted to his involvement of the armed robbery and stated he acted alone,” according to the press release.
He reportedly gave officers information only the suspect would know about the crime, including that he was acting while under the influence of methamphetamine at the time.
