MPD investigates reported armed robbery

There was an alleged armed robbery near Fry's this week.

Maricopa Police Department is investigating a reported armed robbery near Fry’s Marketplace Tuesday evening. 

Maricopa police responded to the 20500 block of North John Wayne Parkway just before 7 p.m. after someone reported an armed robbery, according to MPD. 

The caller was approached by two men, one of whom had a handgun, according to a statement to police. 

The alleged victim told officers the suspects stole a backpack, jewelry and clothing at gunpoint before running away. 

“There were no injuries as a result of the incident,” MPD said. According to police, the incident appears to be isolated in nature. 

MPD did not receive any additional reports of other robberies or thefts in connection with this incident.  

The investigation of the alleged armed robbery is ongoing.
