Henry Wade: Please vote yes for our children

251

During my travels around the district meeting citizens, local community activist and supporters, one common issue continues to dominate the discussion almost as much as jobs. That is the lack of emphasis on education in our state.

There is no question and it comes as no surprise to anyone that Arizona is severely educationally challenged. We have been consistently ranked at the bottom on most areas involving the positive benefits of a productive system and at the top of the list of those areas deemed negative to our children’s development.

Let’s face it; Arizona stinks when it comes to supporting our children’s educational needs.

Now, even though it is the state’ responsibility to fund and manage our education system, it is our responsibility to hold the state accountable for our children’s needs.  When the legislators at the Capitol don’t, then we need to step up.

To that end, we find ourselves contemplating another override to support the Maricopa Unified School District. So we are at crossroad between saving a couple of dollars a month thereby continuing to allow our schools to flounder or instead, dropping a couple of dimes in the community collection tray so we can support our children’s educational future.

I strongly support the MUSD override and respectfully request that you do the same.

Hey, considering that you might have spent those extra dollars on some fast food at McDonald’s contributing to the override might even help you to lose a little weight.
