Since its grand opening on June 13, the Maricopa Public Library has been a busy place. Up to now hours were somewhat limited due to increased staffing needs.

Beginning today, Sept.14, the library, located at 41600 West Smith-Enke Rd., will be open one additional day and extending its hours.

The new hours will be:

Sunday: closed
Monday: 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Tuesday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesday: 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Thursday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Residents of all ages have taken advantage of the new facility to find books, DVDs and CDs, as well as to utilize the library’s 20 computers.

The computerized card catalogue indicates the location of any book in the county’s library system, and two computers allow for easy self-checkout of books and materials. The Friends of the Maricopa Public Library also offer gently used books for sale.
