Cowboys, Cowgirls, Buckaroos and Buckarettes will be galloping into Maricopa to listen to some fine western music and to bid on a wonderful assortment of merchandise and services at the Equine Eden Rescue Center “Whoa-Down.”

The “Whoa-Down” will take place on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at the Ak-Chin Indian Community Center on West Farrell Road, just south of the City of Maricopa (watch for the directional signs). The festivities will run from 5 to 10 p.m. Food will be served starting at 5 until 7:30 p.m. The suggested entrance fee is $5, but any donation will gladly be accepted.

Tables will be set up inside for the raffle and silent auction items. Raffle tickets are $2 each, and participants will be able to choose which prizes they want a chance to win. Items in the silent auction range from a round of golf at the Duke in Rancho El Dorado to a day of luxurious pampering at the Dolce Spa in Chandler and even include a full semester of piano lessons among many other, wonderful items. Auction items may be purchased with cash or credit card via Pay Pal. No checks will be accepted.

In addition to food and beverages, there will be plenty of live entertainment. “Katy Creek” will be entertaining those in attendance with some of the best western music this side of the Pecos along with some great cowboy poetry. Johnny Long will be performing his famous Marty Robbins tribute. There will also be gunfighters roaming the venue, so, look out; — you never know when the lead is going to fly! You could become part of their act. (Performers are subject to change.)
