A Queen Creek teenager was reported missing by her parents Sunday evening after the couple returned home from a reported weekend trip to Rocky Point, Mexico.

Authorities are trying to find Amber LeAnn Hess, 17, who was last seen the afternoon of June 22.

The parents reportedly found blood in their residence on the 32000 block of Nancy Way and a gun was missing. The girl’s car, a 2002 white four-door Mitsubishi Lancer with an Arizona license plate of 329-RJN, was also reported missing.

Pinal County Sheriff’s officials reported that Hess is Caucasian, with brown hair and brown eyes, 5′ 2″, and weighing 145 pounds. She was last reportedly wearing a white tank top with blue shorts. Hess reportedly has both ears pierced twice and has a belly button piercing.

Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Gerald Monahan said the FBI is an active partner in this investigation due to the proximity to an international border. Monahan said he could not confirm if blood was discovered in the residence.

Monahan said that even though Hess is 17, parents and teens should follow certain rules when being apart for a period of time. “There are certain safeguards that can be applied in a situation like this,” Monahan said. “Don’t let strangers in the house, make sure doors are locked at all times, be aware of your surroundings, and make sure to have a local family or friend contact when the parents are traveling.”

If you have any information on Hess’ disappearance, call the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department at 800-352-3796 or dial 911.
