The man who died after jumping from or falling from a train near Casa Grande has been identified as Nickolas Harris, 18, of Casa Grande.

According to Pinal County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jim Knupp, public response to the PCSO request for help led to the identification. Seeing media reports and the PCSO Facebook page with a photo and sketch of the man caused individuals to call dispatch with his possible identity.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Harris’ identity through dental records. Knupp said PCSO officers notified the man’s family in person Saturday afternoon.

Harris had been discovered still alive Feb. 16 beside the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. It is still unknown why he may have been on a train or whether he jumped or fell from the train. He died from his injuries Feb. 21 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix.
