In its continuing effort to create a safe and secure community, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has created a program to offer free, secure, two-way communication with the public.

The alert system allows the PCSO to send email alerts directly to email accounts of residents of Pinal County.

Sheriff Babeu stated, “The new Citizen Alert Network will allow for two-way communication between my office and the residents of Pinal County. The open communication will assist us in solving cases and help the residents learn more about what is happening in Pinal County.”

Many people in Pinal County regularly receive weather or news alerts through emails. Now the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has opened a new and valuable communications channel with the public. This free system will contain Citizen Alert bulletins dealing with important information about public safety. The alerts will be sent out to all registered email accounts in the following categories:

Citizen Alerts can quickly inform the entire community of missing persons, suspects or vehicles used in crimes. News releases that are sent out to the media regarding incidents will also be sent directly to the user.

Business Alerts will be used to target specific types of businesses, providing them with information or crime trends pertinent to their type of business.

Watch Group Alerts will be used to send alert messages about crimes that are occurring in Pinal County.

In keeping with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office core value of protecting the citizens of Pinal County, the alerts will allow law enforcement to multiply their presence by using the eyes and ears of citizens throughout the community.

Another feature of Citizen Alert Network is that it allows for citizens to email, secure and send anonymous tips about a crime directly to the PCSO. All such tips are stripped of identifying information, ensuring anonymity.

In addition, the email and name of those signing up for Citizen Alert Network remain secure and confidential. Many citizens are protective of their personal information, and rightfully so. When citizens sign up for Citizen Alert, their information is encrypted and protected.

“The use of such relevant and advanced technology, in addition to working with our residents, is key to ensuring the safety of our community,” said Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu. “Our residents play an important role in making Pinal County a safe and secure community. The Citizen Alert Network is an important new tool that will allow residents of Pinal County to become even more involved in keeping their neighborhoods safe.”
