Pima Butte fourth graders prepare holiday Hope Chests

Fourth grade students, parents and teachers from Pima Butte Elementary School are hoping to make the holiday brighter for patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Students and teachers decided to have an outreach activity this year that helped the community in a tangible and meaningful way. Students and their parents helped collect a variety of toys and gifts, and students then donated, decorated and filled special shoeboxes, creating Hope Chests.

These “Hope Chests” will provide small gifts to the less fortunate children currently residing at Phoenix’s Children’s Hospital.

Fourth grade teacher Staci Oliver is hoping to make this an annual project. “I am proud that we have so many generous families in our school, and … (also proud) about the great things our students are doing to help our community.”

The Hope Chests will be delivered to the hospital by Dec. 21.
