A Maricopa man was arrested Monday after an incident in the eastern part of the city.

Cornelius McMillan was found to have an outstanding warrant from the City of Gilbert for failure to comply with probation conditions for driving with an invalid driver’s license, police said.

Around 8 a.m., Maricopa police responded to a disturbance call on West Nina Street in Rancho Mirage. Officers spoke with a woman, later identified as McMillan’s wife, who said their son had run outside and began screaming when she and McMillan were arguing about their refrigerator making a loud noise. She explained that her son was autistic and did not like loud noises, police said.

McMillan’s son was sitting in the passenger’s seat of the family’s car, working on schoolwork on his laptop, when officers arrived at the home. They asked the boy if the incident became physical between his parents. He said no, and said he just got worried when they began yelling. The boy had calmed down and did not mind talking with them, police said.

Officers also questioned McMillan about the incident. When running his information, dispatch notified police of McMillan’s outstanding warrant in Gilbert, with a bond of $1,000.

McMillan was arrested and booked into Pinal County Jail. He has since been released, according to online jail records.
