Although the Maricopa Police Department and Maricopa High School authorities have not deemed credible a threat made by an MHS student, MPD has officers stationed at the school as a precaution, according to a press release from the Maricopa Unified School District.

An MPD officer called the school district Thursday evening to report that an MHS student overheard another student making a threat against the school that would occur Friday.

The student who reported the conversation reportedly did not know who the student making the threat was.

Although officers and school district authorities looked into the threat and decided it was not credible, as an added precaution, in addition to the school resource officer, MPD posted officers at the high school at 6 a.m. Friday. The officers will remain at the school for the rest of the day.
