A man is accused of attempting to drag a woman off a bed and punching items in a residence on Sept. 15, according to police.

Anthony R. Baker, 39, was booked into Pinal County Jail on charges of assault (domestic violence), criminal damage (domestic violence) and two charges of disorderly conduct (domestic violence) during the incident, police said.

According to the probable cause statement:

At about 9:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in Tortosa for a report of a disturbance.

Officers contacted a woman, who said that Baker had been drinking and became angry. She stated that a juvenile in the home woke up due to the yelling.

The woman stated that Baker had entered the master bedroom and punched the wall, picture frames and a mirror.

While officers spoke with the woman, she stated that Baker had grabbed her foot and attempted to drag her off the bed while the juvenile sat next to her. The woman was able to “brace” herself and did not fall during the incident.

Baker left the residence and was later found on the side of the road near the intersection of West Val Vista Road and West Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. Baker had bleeding wounds on his hands that officers believe to be consistent with punching objects.

Baker confirmed the woman’s account to police. The man received stitches for his wounds at a hospital and was transported to jail.
