More than 475 readers responded to this week’s poll on gun control with the numbers showing nearly just as many oppose more legislation as support it.
Fifty-one percent, or 244 people, answered “No” when asked: Do you believe the U.S. needs more gun-control legislation?
Forty-seven percent, or 224 respondents, said “Yes” to the question. Two percent, or nine people, were undecided. A total of 477 people took the poll.
On Wednesday, the Senate failed to pass the Toomey-Manchin plan for mandatory background checks, falling six votes short of the 60 needed to advance the measure to the 100-member Senate.
