Officers from the Maricopa Police Department responded to a call from the Chandler Police Department after a local pregnant woman was reportedly assaulted by her husband.

In a relatively slow week for crime, MPD officers responded to seven theft reports, one breaking and entering call and one aggravated assault. The alleged victim of the assault was taken out of MPD jurisdiction to Chandler Regional Medical Center, but the CPD called in MPD.

The alleged assault took place at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday. Her husband was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

According to the police report, woman stated she got into an argument with her husband, Blair, and asked him to take her to her sister’s house. After arriving there, the victim stated her husband said “she was not taking any items he paid for.”

He then reportedly exited the car, went to the passenger side of the vehicle and threw his wife’s purse and baby bag into the road. He is accused of then grabbed the victim’s arm and pulling her out of the vehicle.

According to the police report, the husband let go of the victim’s arm and grabbed her by the neck with one hand, choking her. The woman feared that may have harmed the baby, and he reportedly drove her to the hospital. There, she asked the hospital staff to call the police.

Reached through 911, the Chandler Police called MPD, and police took him into custody.

According to the police report, “During questioning, he denied assaulting [the victim] and declined to talk without a lawyer.”
