Pinal County elections officials are gearing up for newly passed legislation that moves the primary election date back a week.

The July 30 primary replaces the original Aug. 6 election date.

Gov. Katie Hobbs recently signed House Bill 2785 into law after it was passed by House Republicans and Democrats in a bipartisan effort.

The new legislation solves an issue with an automatic recount voting bill passed in 2022 that threatened ballots from coming in on time.

The new law is expected to help Arizona’s elections by saving time, encouraging efficiency and transparency.
