The proposed MFMD administration building received approval from P&Z.

Maricopa Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to approve two large developments, a new Fire/Medical Department administration building and a new Iconic Tire store.

With the approval, both plans will be sent to the Maricopa City Council with the commission’s recommendation.

The new fire/medical administration building is to be constructed on 2.27 acres of land at 45695 W. Edison Road. Perlman Architects of Arizona is in charge of the design. The matter was approved with little discussion.

SPS+ Architects designed the Iconic Tire store on behalf of BKME Arizona Investments LLC. The proposed automotive repair shop is to be constructed on a little more than an acre just south of the southeast corner of John Wayne Parkway and Hathaway Avenue.

Iconic will be part of a large retail and storage complex being installed in the area. The architects have two years to complete the project based on city ordinance but can come back for a possible extension if needed.

Construction on the entire complex can’t begin until the overpass project is completed, and streets can be built in the area.

The Maricopa Planning and Zoning Commission will not have a meeting in June but will return for a meeting in July.
