Rams football opens with ‘soda’ scrimmage

While they may not be in the same conference any longer, the Maricopa Rams and the Florence Gophers will meet Aug. 27 for an old-fashioned soda scrimmage.

The game will start at 6 p.m. on the Rams’ home turf, and admission is one 12-pack of soda.

The Football Booster Club will then take these soda donations and sell them back to the general public at games to help raise funds for the football team.

Last year the club was unable to host a soda scrimmage because the concession area was not completed, but, in years past through scrimmage donations, the club has typically been able to raise enough soda to last the entire football season, according to booster club president Lori Duffy.

In addition to soda, boosters will be selling an array of other items during the football season to help raise money for sports programs.

The MHS Football Booster Club will meet every Tuesday for the next few weeks at 7 p.m. in room 253 at the high school.

For more information on the club or to make a donation, contact Duffy at [email protected].
