The Maricopa High School football team had their first road game of the season Friday night against Arcadia High School.

A change of scenery didn’t result in a change in outcome though as the Rams lost to the Titans 52-35 to fall to 0-4 on the season.

The defense held up well in the first half and Maricopa trailed 14-7 at halftime.

Most of the fireworks occurred in the third quarter as Arcadia struck first with an 85-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Sheedy to David Hubbard.

Maricopa responded with two long touchdown connections of 65 and 60 yards from quarterback Aaron Owens to wide receiver Elisha Donaldson in a four-minute span.

The game was tied 21-21 midway through the third period when things started to go south.

The Titans countered with a flurry of quick touchdowns and had a commanding 42-21 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The three-touchdown deficit proved to be too much for the Rams to overcome.

Owens threw two more deep passes for scores in the fourth quarter, a 57-yard touchdown by wide receiver Kameron Jones and a 90-yard touchdown by Elisha Donaldson.

Donaldson had another incredible performance with 225 yards on only four catches, three of which went for scores. Donaldson has 27 catches for 614 yards and seven touchdowns through four games this season.

Arcadia scored on another Maricopa turnover late in the game to wrap up the victory.

Owens had 430 passing yards for the Rams to go with five touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Rams will get their first matchup with an opponent that is not undefeated Friday when they play 2-2 Casa Grande Vista Grande High School, 1556 N. Arizola Road.
