A convicted rapist has moved to the Maricopa area, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
PCSO’s Sex Offender Notification said Michael Alan Burton, also known as Tom Jackson, was convicted in 1975 of sexual assault and attempted murder for stabbing a woman in the neck, cutting her wrists and choking her until she passed out. The crime occurred in 1974.
Burton, 61, resides south of the city at 47156 W. Javelina Road. He is 5-foot 9-inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.
Burton is classified as a Level 3, or high risk, sex offender.
