Are you worried about your credit score? Don’t know what a FICO is? Afraid you can’t save enough money for a down payment? Stop worrying and sign up for the Parks & Rec Department’s First Time Home Buyer workshop taught by Great American Realty’s Dawn Madden.

The two-hour workshop focuses on answering your questions and empowering you to buy your first home. There are just two sessions left, February 19 and March 5, and space is limited for the 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. session. The cost of the program is only $15 which is a small investment to help you acquire your dream house.

If you already own a home, you can take advantage of the First Time Real Estate Investor class to learn the pros and cons of investing in land and homes. This one-day class is available on February 19 and March 5 for $15 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at City Hall.

The City of Maricopa Parks, Recreation and Library Department has also teamed up with Jim Chaston of Do It Right Now Business Services to offer two important classes regarding tax preparation. “The goal of these classes is to offer citizens a chance to have their tax questions answered by a professional,” noted PRL Director Marty McDonald.

The first class, Tax Time, is a two-hour workshop designed to answer questions and to ensure you have all of the proper paperwork to file your 2004 return. This workshop will occur on February 19 and March 19 from 10 a.m. 12 p.m. at City Hall.

The second class, Tax Topics, is a two-hour workshop focusing on tax related issues such as homeownership, education planning and retirement saving. This workshop will occur on February 19 and March 19 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at City Hall. Registration fees for this excellent community service are only $20 per class and are deductible under the lifetime learning credit.

Contact Marty McDonald at 568-9098 ext. 204 or via email to registration for either class. The Maricopa Parks, Recreation and Libraries Department is also looking for qualified instructors in the fields of art, computers, youth sports, American Sign Language, ceramics, foreign language, music, physical wellness, yoga and many more.
